Thanking Andrew Bekkering
May 14, 2021 3 CommentsThis past week concluded Andrew Bekkering’s full-time internship at Harvest. On behalf of the session, the pastors wanted to thank Andrew for his service at Harvest and to share with you some of the ways he has been a blessing to the congregation as a part-time intern (2019-20) and then as a full-time intern (June 2020-May 2021).
Andrew has been serving on staff at Harvest since February of 2019, first as a part-time intern while in seminary and then as a full-time intern since June 2020.
Andrew has been a tremendous servant behind the scenes in what has been a tumultuous year. Andrew was the driving force behind organizing and setting up outdoor worship last year. It was his vision to make a more welcoming fellowship area outdoors (when you see the patio lights outside think of Andrew). Andrew also excelled at planning events like our visitors' dinner, the Harvest Film Festival, and our monthly prayer meetings.
Many people who have more recently begun attending Harvest have been blessed by Andrew’s welcoming presence. As one member recently commented, it was Andrew’s intentional greeting of them two weeks in a row that made a really strong impression about Harvest as a welcoming church. Others who have gone through the membership process have also had the opportunity to experience Andrew’s warm and gregarious nature.
Lastly, we want to thank Andrew for his investment in the Harvest Youth Group. Andrew developed a sincere love for the students in the Anchored Youth Group. Whether he was urging kids to sing, seeking to draw out kids who were on the margins, challenging them to use their gifts for the film festival, or teaching the kids, Andrew’s earnest ministry was a blessing to many.
Please join us in thanking Andrew and Anessa for their ministry here at Harvest Church and in praying for the Lord’s blessing on their future ministry.
On behalf of Harvest Session,
Pastor Wayne
