Well, our Governor has decided that we all need three more weeks of intense, uninterrupted, 24/7, non-stop, no-escape-possible, family time.

OK.

On a more serious and encouraging note – our Loving Heavenly Father has decided that we need the same! (What a coincidence!) Better yet, he tells us that He has good purposes in mind through this ordeal. The Scriptures are brimming with the news that the God who numbers our days and orders our steps both knows exactly what is eternally best for us and is committed and able to do just that! Can you imagine, not a single person, throughout all the countless millennia of the new earth will ever reflect on a single moment in their life and say to God, “I wish you hadn’t done that.” We will praise Him!

That’s exciting to think about. There is a lot about the quarantine I’m not thrilled about. But it helps me tremendously to take an “eternal perspective”. I’m praying that the Lord will do a work in my life, and in the life of every person at Harvest church, that is so transforming, so purifying for godliness and empowering for love that, no matter how difficult the days ahead, we are already humbled and thankful for this gift of suffering the Lord has given to us.

Here’s my prayer for all of you, from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 and 3:5:
  • 2:16 - Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
  • 3:5 - May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

Amen? Amen!
