Well, this is an absolutely Pure-Michigan postcard August morning. Simply can’t be better. The beauty of a quiet summer morning is a precious gift from the Lord. I took my walk pre-sunrise this morning. It’s wonderful to watch the natural world waking up. I caught three does still in bed (the fawns, of course, were already up and at ‘em!)
Why does the Lord bless us with such intoxicating good things? Have you ever wondered about that? Why does He give us outrageously good food to eat and stunning views to drink in and great friends to enjoy and soul-stirring music to listen to? Why the fat blessedness of a good marriage and growing kids and meaningful work and restful vacations? Why do field corn and fresh rain and ocean spray smell so good? What is the beautiful mystery that haunts the cry of a loon or a solitary French horn?
What IS this world we inhabit?
It is a symphony of God’s glory, a canvas on which He has painted His beauty, a table which He has set with His goodness – and invites us to feast.

“Thou hast spread a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
Thou anointest my head with oil; My cup overflows”. (Psalm 23:5)
The Living God delights in what He has made and, as any loving parent, delights to share it with His children.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights” (James 1:17).
So, enjoy it. Savor the lavish kindness of God as it falls all around and over you. Drink in the sweet wine of all the beauty you see and taste the goodness of the Lord. It pleases Him.
And then remember, it’s just the smallest hint of what is yet to come.
“Marantha, come Lord Jesus” (1 Corinthians 16:22).
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Dale
