We praise the Lord for the wonderful week we had at Family Camp 2014!
We enjoyed the crackling sounds of the campfire, the joyous shouts of children playing in the water, and the beautiful echo of voices raised in worship to our living God.
Next year you won’t want to miss this annual opportunity to fellowship with your fellow church and presbytery members as you grow closer to the Lord.
We were thrilled to have Pastor Eric Watkins as our Family Camp speaker this year for our adults and high schoolers. Pastor Eric has served as an OPC church planter in Florida, most recently in St. Augustine. His is currently completing his PhD dissertation on preaching Christ from the Old Testament. In his spare time he enjoys surfing, beach volleyball, and playing guitar; but his favorite thing to do is be with his family.
Family Camp Theme
How can theologically conservative, reformed churches confront an ever-changing culture with the never-changing gospel? There is no question that our world is becoming more and more relativistic, both morally and intellectually. Some of the ways of reaching our neighbors in the past do not seem to work as well today, and our own covenant kids find themselves bombarded with confusing ideas from the postmodern world in which they live. How shall we answer not only their questions, but the questions of skeptics? While our gospel message must remain the same, understanding the mind of postmodernism will help us engage our kids and culture better. And knowing our Bible and its redemptive message is even more important! The goal of this family camp will be to discuss how we can use the dramatic, biblical theological story of the Bible to share the gospel of Jesus Christ today, without compromising our reformed identity.
